Summary:

After the events of TLJ, the newly self-appointed Supreme Leader has to make amends to his General. After words and titles hurt more than force-chokings and shoves, only soft gestures and silence can bring forgiveness, or at least a truce.

Go show some love!

I’m 5 days post op and recovered just enough to be bored out of my mind. What’s your fave/cutest show of affection between Kylo and Hux? What makes the crew roll their eyes? Ex. Hand holding, shoulder brushing, lingering eye contact, boxed lunch (it’s the pain meds, okay X’D)

*careful hugs*

I think it’s actually none of the above. It’s how sometimes Hux will glance around after Ren when he leaves a meeting, just following his with his eyes for a few extra moments. It’s the moments when Ren moves over just an inch or two to let Hux share the space at the front of the bridge.

It’s the way that Hux always meets Ren when he comes back from a mission, and the way that Ren never does, because he knows Hux needs time to write up his reports. It’s the space they give each other, and the space between them that is what someone really looking would notices, and it’s what makes their relationship more than just convenience.

(33. Baby fic & 51. Arranged Marriage)

(1.6k, hidden identity, SFW)

The galaxy today is celebrating the announcement of the engagement of Prince Ben Organa of Alderaan and Lord Armitage Hux of Arkanis. The marriage is to be the final step in the peace negotiations between the Republic and Imperial held space, bringing an end to over two decades of aggression and warfare. The marriage ceremony is to take place on a specially appointed station in neutral territory, and will be concluded with the sampling of genetic material from both grooms, which will be combined to create a new lineage which will-

Kylo groaned and cancelled the newscast. The wedding was all any station was talking about, even down to the dingiest cantina feed. With the increased security, most traders of negotiable repute had opted to lie low rather than risk imprisonment. But to Kylo, a pirate and smuggler renowned throughout the galaxy for being willing and able to steal anything and disappear like a shadow, it sounds like an incomparable challenge.

Other smugglers were right to avoid the planets themselves, and the station that was to be the site of the ceremony itself, but Kylo had a contact within the wedding organisers, who had fed him pertinent information. Thanks to the contact, Kylo knew the time of departure of Hux’s shuttle from Arkanis, the route it would be taking, and where exactly he could intercept it. Arkanis wasn’t a rich planet, but Hux should still have a decent dowry he could steal. And if all else failed, he could ransom Hux himself back to the Republic; the treaty couldn’t be signed without him after all.

Adjusting his cowl around his helmet, Kylo exited his quarters, finding the other knights at their stations and ready for his orders. He took his place at the helm, punching in the coordinates, He could feel a broad grin spreading on his face as the starfield dissolved into streaks beyond the helm. This was going to be perfect.

Kylux the fic you’ll never write: Champagne, Cocaine, Gasoline

Champagne, Cocaine, Gasoline

Hux is not amused. He brushes off his suit, but there’s nothing to be done about the stain slowly spreading across his right arm. Outside, it’s just cooling off, and the dark of the loading dock presses around him, pushing him back towards the light inside, the party, and Kylo.

He takes a long drag of his cigarette, pursing his lips and closing his eyes. He doesn’t want to go back in, and see Kylo’s bright eyes, and hear Kylo’s apologies. It’s another “business” deal gone wrong, another supplier who doesn’t like the set of Kylo’s mouth and the way he glares at anyone who gets to close to Hux. It’s more lost revenue and more power he’s practically giving to the drug dealers at the cartels.

The air is thick with gasoline and the sickly sweet smell of spilled champagne, the harshness of smoke just cutting through it. There’s a wave of warmth when the fire exit swings open just down from Hux, but he doesn’t open his eyes until Kylo plucks the cigarette from his fingers. Then he opens his eyes to glare.

He can’t for long, though, because Kylo covers his frown with a kiss, and really, it’s hard to stay angry when Kylo wants to build, rather than destroy.

Fic writer self rec

The talented and hardworking @bettsfic tagged me in this, and @star-thief sent me an ask.

rules: list your top 5 favorites of your fics, what they’re about, and why you’re proud of them, then tag some fic authors to do the same!

I don’t know if these are my favorites of my fics, but they are the ones that come to mind when I think of things I’m proud of and that I’d like people to read.

Retcon, thorki, ~90k

I have never written a novel length work so easily as I wrote Retcon. The characters flowed, the story formed exactly as I wanted it to. I’m also really proud of how I worked with existing canon, and reworked Thor and Loki to fit their circumstance in the fic. (Loki with his post-IW personality, Thor with his pre-Thor one attitudes).

Homeland, thorki, 4k?

I still haven’t decided if Homeland is a one shot or is going to have a continuation, but it doesn’t really matter to me. I am so proud of the worldbuilding that I did with this jotun!thor fic, and that’s why I’m putting it here.

The Third Rule, kylux, ~17k

Writing this fic felt a little like tearing the words out from inside me. It was absolutely a mess to work on, the subject matter was really dark (getting over childhood abuse, (self) brainwashing). And yet, after all that, I’m really proud of the results.

the price of dreams and hauntings (alt title North End), galennic, ~21k

The first piece of historical fiction I ever completed, this 20s era noir fic is also the basis for a novel that will get finished some day. I loved doing the research, and I’m really pleased with the result, even if I agree with everyone who advised me to expand the work.

The Monsters We Keep, kylux, 5k

It was a toss up between this, At the Edge of Vision, and At the Mercy. They’re all horror tinged/horror fictions that explore serious themes (abusive relationships, BDD, and drug abuse respectively.) Monsters won because it’s the one that I can’t leave behind. There are moments of descriptive beauty in it that still influence my writing years later, and it’s also the basis for a novel I’m working on, The Honeysuckle Tree.

I’m tagging @thecopperriver, @crackedverbosity, @raven-brings-light, @unicornsandbutane, @illwynd, @cracktheglasses, @huxplicit and whoever else wants to jump on this! I’d love to see all your favorites.
